Large herd of wild elephants can be seen roaming the expansive grassland areas of Uda Walawe park while the bird watching experts would be delighted with the migratory spectacle seen at Bundala park.
Cultural and spiritual heritage sites are close to hand in Katharagama and Situlpawwa.Bot are sacred religious sites that are revered by devotees of all faiths and are popular pilgrimage destinations.The famous Katharagama festival during the month of August delights many visitors with the colourful costumes, dancing and fire walking spectacles that are all on show. Glorious sandy beaches are easily accessible in either directions from Tissa, but Kirinda is the closest and safest for bathing.Both scuba diving and snorkelling can be undertaking around the coastel waters around Kirinda.
